Avcom SNG-2150C Rack Mount Spectrum Analyzer

The Avcom SNG-2150C is not only a spectrum analyzer, but also a carrier monitor with features such as carrier masking, screen shot capture and recording, Satellite ID, and Automated Data Acquisition (DAQ).

The long awaited SNG-2150C is finally here and is well worth the wait! The SNG-2150C is Avcom’s answer to the discontinued Tektronix 1705A with a feature set that is second to none giving the Satellite Technician a very useful tool for finding and peaking on satellites. The SNG-2150C also offers L.O. Frequency Offset which allows the operator to display the frequency in L-Band, C-Band, X-Band, Ku-Band or Ka-Band, or any custom band needed.

Improved Performance & Specifications

The new SNG-2150C was designed with excellent frequency and amplitude accuracy as well as a wide variety of resolution bandwidth selections ranging from 10kHz to 3MHz. This is required to allow for viewing and monitoring of small TT&C and data carriers found in many satellite communications markets today. The front panel has independent control of Frequency & Span with settings for Fine, Medium and Coarse to allow the operator to dial into the carrier and control the display as needed.

Versatile Graphical User Interface

The SNG-2150C can be monitored and controlled both locally from the front panel with the color LCD or remotely using the Avcom Graphical User Interface (GUI) via the serial or Ethernet ports. The remote GUI will allow for remote monitoring and control from anywhere in the world via the Internet. If used in a SNG truck the operator can use a high speed cellular broadband card to remotely monitor and control a truck anywhere in the world which is a necessity for assisting an inexperienced operator.

Paradise PD155i Satellite Modem/IP Router

The Paradise PD155i 155Mbps IP Satellite Modem/ Router offers an extensive range of network management and bandwidth optimization features.

A 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch, advanced routing and Quality of Service protocols are supported as part of the feature-rich IP functionality.

Traffic shaping allocates bandwidth in a controlled manner between competing data streams. This allows data services — including the satellite portion of the link — to be fully provisioned end-to-end rather than being simply ‘best effort’.

Large bandwidth reductions are achieved using a range of data compression and acceleration techniques. Paired Carrier (incorporating ViaSat’s patented PCMA technology) can further halve satellite bandwidth requirements.

State-of-the-art forward-error-correction (FEC) technology includes Turbo and LDPC. Lowlatency FastLink LDPC is attractive for lowdata- rate links. Single/multistream DVB-S2 is also supported.

Embedded satellite and IP diagnostic tools are included and are the most sophisticated available on the market.

The PD155i is fully compatible with all other Quantum-series modems in IP closed modes.

SED’s Decimator D2 Second Generation L-Band Spectrum Analyzer

SED Decimator D2’s improved low noise floor and dynamic range, combined with a powerful new
Graphical User Interface, make it the ideal low-cost solution for local or remote spectrum analysis
within a satellite terminal, enclosure or earth station.

Decimator is the smallest card on the market and is ideal for integration into small spaces. It can be installed in any enclosure or computer chassis. It is a half size PCI card and can be installed in an available computer PCI slot, providing power to the card. Alternately, it can be mounted on standoffs and powered through a +12/+5 Vdc 3-pin connector for integration into any enclosure.

It uses state of the art digital technology and Fast Fourier Transformations to make quick and accurate measurements. With a very low noise floor and large dynamic range, it is well-suited to measurement of any type of satellite carrier, including very small carriers, beacon signals and for carrier monitoring applications. Decimator accepts all L-band signals from 950 to 2,150 MHz and input power levels ranging from -110 to +5 dBm. RBW varies from 4 Hz to 500 kHz. The Decimator can be connected to an external 10 MHz reference for improved frequency accuracy and stability. All data communications with the Decimator occurs via its built-in Ethernet port.

The Decimator’s powerful Graphical User Interface (GUI) is available using any standard web browser. No additional software is required. The GUI is very easy to use and operates like most traditional spectrum analyzers. It provides user-selectable colors for markers and traces, allows storage of multiple traces and provides measurement reporting.

The Decimator provides network access to all technical staff connected to the facility network or a corporate wide area network. This allows all technical staff the ability to monitor feeds and carriers at any time and from any location in the world using only a web browser.

For integration into a satellite terminal or measurement system, the Decimator can be operated via its built-in GUI or the user can create a separate user interface using the publicly available API. An SNMP status interface is also provided.
